Smite – Nike God Reveal

by on December 3, 2016

Opening words

Nike is the latest god in Hi-Rez’s most popular MOBA game – Smite. Nike is a warrior kitted with some new and till now unseen abilities, primarily passive ability. In Greek mythology Nike was a Goddess of Victory who’s weapon of choice was a two sided axe-spear. Her god model looks absolutely stunning, a real candy for your eyes. So in regards to visual presentation, well done Hi-Rez…

Kit overview

Passive Ability

To Victory!
So far unseen passive ability, To Victory!, is for me the most interesting part of Nike’s kit.
At the start of each game Nike sets 3 goals. When one of these is completed, Nike and all of her teammates gain a Laurel that increase their power and movement speed. The Laurel can stack up to 3 times.
Laurel goals:
Eliminate 10 enemy gods as a team.
Eliminate 200 minions as a team.
Two members of your team (you can be one of them) reach level 20.

Bonus Movement Speed: +3/5/7%
Bonus Power: +8/10/12%

Combo Ability

Plan of Action
Plan of Action is the passive/active Nike’s ability. When not activated it grants the Goddess of Victory HP5 regeneration.
When activated it augments her next used non passive ability with new effect and bonus damage.
HP5: 10/15/20/25/30
Bonus Damage: 20/30/40/50/60
Cooldown: 18/17/16/15/14 seconds
Cost: 30/35/40/45/50 mana

Main Damaging Ability

Rend
When used without Plan of Action Rend allows Nike to slam the ground 2 times in a straight line direction. If the target is hit twice it looses some of it protection. When Nike combos 2 abilities she gains an extra attack. If she hits all 3 of her swings the target looses protections and is disarmed.
Damage: 50/85/120/155/190 (+50% of your physical power)
Protections Shred: 4/8/12/16/20
Disarm Duration: 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2s
Cooldown: 12 seconds
Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 mana

Escape Ability

Valiant Leap
Nike’s escape ability is at best a little bit disappointing. At its core it’s not much different than Bacchus’s jump. When used with Plan of Action it grants Nike less time in air making her just a tiny bit more flexible and this ability easier to hit if used for damage or crowd control.
Damage: 65/115/165/215/265 (+60% of your physical power)
Range: 55
Radius: 15
Cooldown: 18 seconds
Cost: 55/60/65/70/75 mana

Ultimate Ablity

Sentinel of Zeus
The ultimate ability reminds me of Fafnir’s dragon transformation as Nike turns into an armored sentinel sending a damaging shock wave in process. If Nike uses Sentinel of Zeus with her combo ability she gains 60% of her maximum health in form of a shield instead of 40% when used without Plan of Action. Also when used in combo she applies a 60% slow instead of a 30% slow.
Damage: 100/165/230/295/360 (+80% of your physical power)
Slow: 30/60%
Slow Duration: 6s
Shield HP: 40/60% of your maximum HP
Shield Duration: 10s
Radius: 40
Cooldown: 100s
Cost: 90/95/100/105/110 mana

My thoughts of Nike

As I haven’t gotten the chance to try her out just yet I can’t really tell you how she feels or plays out. However, I’ve seen others play her and I must disappoint you that she doesn’t really seem like a really fun and innovating goddess. Everything about her kit, excluding her passive, is kinda meh and already seen. To me she really doesn’t seem like a Goddess of Victory, but who knows, maybe she’ll be once competent players get their hands on her at the big stage.
