Gears of War 4 – The Flagship of Microsoft
Microsoft did woo their gamers at their E3 2016 press conference from the start itself by showing the latest gameplay of Gears of War 4. Gears of War is one of the major exclusive titles of Xbox and after the major hit of Gears 3 and the release of a remastered Gears 1 on Xbox One, Gears of War 4 launches on October 11, 2016.
First Locust, Now What?
After all the Locust has been defeated and erased from the earth by Marcus Fenix and his troop, now the world seems to be affected by some other species known as the Swarm. The game introduces three new playable characters: J.D. Fenix (son of Marcus and Anya), Kait and Del Walker. It looks like the gameplay doesn’t change much in Gears 4. The active reloading, the chanisaw on the Lancer all seems to be the same from the older Gears. But we can’t quite say anything unless we get our hands-on it. The Coalition says that they want to retain what players love about Gears without spoiling the formula. But that’s not to say that they haven’t introduced anything new.
The cover-system is refined and you can perform some close-cover executions in this game. The game features a Swarm drone (exact to a Locust drone), a new four-legged enemy called Pouncer and a new weapon named Buzzkill.
On a Solo Mission
You can complete the campaign solo or with a co-op friend in split-screen, LAN or through Xbox Live. That means you cannot play 4-player or even 3-player co-op like in Gears 3. Your co-op friend can either play as Kait or Dell. Another multiplayer mode features you and up to four of your friends a co-op against some AI bots (featured in the open beta). And the main addition to multiplayer is the new Horde 3.0 mode. Which allows up to five players to take up against about fifty waves of enemies.

Microsoft also announced a Limited Edition Gears of War Xbox Elite controller this E3. According to Rod Fergusson, the studio head of The Coalition, this controller is so ‘limited’ that pre-ordering early is the only way to get it.
Gears of War 4 releases on 11th of October this year. You can pre-order this from the Xbox or Windows Store and from other retailers. However buying the game from Xbox Store gives you access to the game on your Windows 10 PC too and vice versa by the Xbox-Play Anywhere program.
