Overwatch: McCree Spotlight
McCree is the most frequent changed character stats vise. Since launch of Overwatch he’s been altered many times. In some of those he’s just overpowered and other times he’s under performing. However, it seems that Blizzard nailed it right in the latest patch. Before we talk about his abilities and gameplay let’s take a quick look at some lesser known facts about McCree:

Peacekeeper (Default use key: Mouse 1)
Peacekeeper is McCree’s primary weapon. In its self it’s a revolver that does great amount of damage but with some drawbacks. The rate of fire is low thus connecting your shots is crucial. The good thing here is that this is a hit-scan weapon making it a lot easier to hit your target.
Damage: 20 – 70
Falloff range: 35 to 55 meters
Rate of fire: 2 rounds per second
Reload time: 1.5 seconds
Fan the Hammer (Default use key: Mouse 2)
This is secondary firing mode of McCree’s Peacekeeper. It allows hit to rapidly empty all of his already loaded ammunition. However, the accuracy is much much worse making this exclusively a way of dealing with close range foes.
Damage: 22.5 – 45
Falloff range: 18 to 30 meters
Rate of fire: 6 rounds per second
Ammo usage: all in cylinder
Reload time: 1.5 seconds
Combat Roll (Default use key: Shift)
Combat Roll makes McCree rolls in the direction he’s walking. One of the biggest advantages that this ability gives is total refill of your ammo. Meaning that if you have for example 1 bullet in your cylinder, after using Combat Roll you’ll have all 6. It’s not really a good disengage tool but it can work in some situations. However, it can change this shift of ongoing fights drastically.
Roll range: 6 meters
Cooldown: 8 seconds
Flashbang (Default use key: E)
Flashbang allows McCree to throw a grenade that explodes shortly after leaving his hand. It has a small effective blast radius. If a foe is inside that radius he’ll be stopped in his tracks and stunned for a certain amount of time making him a sitting duck to McCree and everyone in his team.
Max range: 5 meters
Area of effect: 2 meters radius
Duration: 0.7 second
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Deadeye (Default use key: Q)
Deadeye is McCree’s ultimate ability. It delivers havoc on battlefield. When activated McCree renders everyone in his sight marking all visible enemies with an eye of death. After a certain amount of time McCree can fire dropping all foes down. The amount of casting time depends on your targets current health. But McCree does suffer greatly if someone ain’t in his sight as that enemy can kill him really fast bacuase McCree’s mobility is limited.
Damage: 170 per 1 second casting
Movement speed: 2 meters per second
Ammo usage: 1 per target
Casting time: 6 seconds max
As McCree is considered as an offensive character he’ll always have a burden of being the main DPS and almost always gold medaling on damage. He’s a great counter to: Reaper, Zenyatta and Tracer. However, he does struggle against: Widowmaker, Winston, Reinhardt, Bastion and Lucio. Use all of your ammo before Rolling as it will give you the most possible DPS. Always aim for head with Peacekeeper. Fan the Hammer and Flashbang is a devastating combination. If you don’t do any damage with your ultimate, Deadeye, the cooldown will only go back to 50%.
