Destiny 2’s Trials and Faction Rallies won’t be back this season
Destiny 2’s Trials of the Nine and Faction Rally modes will not be returning to the game in its current season. The Black Armory DLC, which arrives as part of the game’s fifth season, does have plenty to do, with new weapons and even the announcement of a new raid. But the two modes are set to remain on hiatus for the next few months at least.
The news comes via Destiny 2 community manager Cozmo, who took to the game’s subreddit to make his announcement. The statement read that “Trials is not part of our announcement today. It will not make its comeback during Season of the Forge. The team is still working to restore this experience in a way that lives up to your expectations.”
That was a pretty definitive response, but while Cozmo addressed the issue, there was no official word on why the two modes are yet to make their return, or indeed when players might actually get to try them out again. Cozmo did, however, say that “I’ll share more information with you as soon as we have it.”
Both modes began life in the original Destiny. Trials of the Nine used to be 3v3 Elimination mode Trials of Osiris, while Faction Rally built from the faction system presented in the first game. When Bungie moved them across to Destiny 2 however, neither mode seemed to satisfy the community. As a result, both modes were put on hiatus at the beginning of Season 4.
It seems from Cozmo’s post that the modes are expected to return, but you’ll be waiting at least another three months – Season 5 runs until February, making that the earliest they’ll be coming back.
In happier news, it looks as though Destiny fans will be getting a new Last City raid in Season 5. There’ll also be three new Pinnacle weapons, which everyone can get their hands on – although it seems as though Bungie has gone for power over placement when it comes to the new guns.
