DMC5’s Ultra Limited edition costs $8,000 and comes with Dante’s coat

Devil May Cry 5 will offer replica coats from some of the series’ most popular characters as part of its Ultra Limited edition. The bad news is that those limited editions are only available via Capcom Japan, but the even worse news is that if you want one, it’ll set you pack more than £6,000.

Yep, you read that right. There are three items of clothing on offer, each coming in at a different price. The most expensive is Dante’s coat, a purple leather duster that’ll cost you 900,000 yen (£6,100 or around $8,000). If that seems a little much though, there are a couple of other options that you can choose from.

Nero’s edition is a little cheaper, coming in at 750,000 yen (£5000, $6646). The catch, however, would seem that the character’s blue duffle coat is missing its right forearm, as a result of Nero’s actual arm being ripped off at some point in the upcoming game. I don’t know about you, but that feels like a lot of money to pay for a partially-broken coat.

If you’re still put off by that price tag, then I’ve got one more option for you. The cheapest coat on offer is V’s, which costs 600,000 yen (£4000, $5300). That’s still an eye-watering amount of money for a novelty coat, but if you’ve got several grand burning a hole in your pocket…well, maybe you do actually need a new coat.

You can check out the coats via Capcom Japan, although their website seems to be down for maintenance at time of writing (Eurogamer have some extra screenshots). It’s worth pointing out that you can only get hold of those coats from Japan, but the shipping should be pretty negligible in comparison to the total cost of this specific editions.

The Devil May Cry 5 release date is still a little way away – March 8 2019 – so you’ve got some time to save up for a swanky new coat. Or have a chat with your bank manager, which might be the more effective way of raising that kind of cash.
