Bethesda’s Big Surprises from E3 2016

E3 is a gamer’s best week in an year. From announcing video games to releasing another video game everyone is excited and relieved. Let’s take a look at the major surprise announcements made at this year’s E3 Press Conference. We are not covering everything from the E3 showcase but only the ‘surprises’.

Read about our Sony’s, Ubisoft’s, EA’s and Microsoft’s Big Surprises from E3 2016 also.

Bethesda’s second turn

It was only last year when Bethesda held its first E3 press conference and made an announcement of Fallout 4, which made almost every gamer blown away. Now let’s take a look at what Bethesda has done to make us excited this year.

Quake is back

Classic is great. This 90’s game’s remaster was already leaked a bit but nobody expected Tim Willit, creative director at id Software, to reveal Quake at the start of the show itself. Quake zooms into current-gen with the same old weapons and characters along with a 120Hz framerate means you can soar around the game very fast (that’s what Quake is for, right?). The new Quake is designed for all level gamers (now we can’t show off!). Yes, Quake is designed for amateurs as well as professionals. Quake returns to eSports as well (Great!). Multiple Quake tournaments will be held across the world. More news about it on this years QuakeCon in August, so stay tuned! Watch the cinematic trailer for Quake below.

Fallout 4 announcements

It was a surprise when we heard that Fallout 4 will get its LAST downloadable content but we are happy as three new contents will be available to play this year. New Vaul-Tec DLC allows you to create your own completely customizable vaults. A new additional area called Nuke World was also teased at the show, but nothing more were revealed and some extras for your Fallout 4 base including ramps for balls and conveyor belts. Another great news for PS4 survivors, Fallout 4 mods will be available for you this July.

Remastered Skyrim

Another remaster from Bethesda. Skyrim will be available for Xbox One and PS4 this year. The game will be completely overhauled in graphics and yeah, there will be mod support.

Have you heard of Fallout Shelter?

The title I have given was a question from the global vice-president of Bethesda Softworks, “Have you heard of Fallout Shelter?” and when a great woo came out he simply said, “Great! You have heard of it.” Bethesda always know how to present a show. For Fallout Shelter, a new story mode was announced that too with new characters and combat mode.

Check out the announcements below.

Elder Scrolls Legends

Card game year? Back in our last post Microsoft showed a similar game from CD Projeckt Red. Now Elder Scrolls legends. Both seems really good too. Yes as the name suggests, its Hearthstone-rivaling card strategy game. Its currently available as a public beta and will be available as a complete game on iOS, Android, Mac and PC. Take a look at the trailer below.

Doom @E3 2016

You know what I’m gonna do after writing this article, smash some guys in Doom. Yeah Doom’s got some announcements too. A new premium DLC Unto The Evil was announced which has tons of new features including a three new multiplayer map, a new demon called Harvester (harvester? Let’s see), a new weapon, equipment and some more new features too. In addition to this a free update for all Doom players will roll out featuring SnapMap.

Also Doom’s first level was announced as a demo for all platforms. Don’t just get hype, it was only for the duration of the press conference. Then why am I saying this? Even though they told us like that, Doom’s demo is still accessible (Go on, grab that). Did they forget to turn off the demo? Not at all but due to popular demand,” it’s decided to leave the demo up for awhile” but we don’t know when they’ll close, so like I said, go on grab that monster! Take a look at the complete announcement to know more about the DLC and updates.

Prey

We’ve been sent to the space as a subject for an experiment, without our permission! That’s really rude, right? But when we were getting tested, our space ship was hijacked, that too by aliens! Prey is a sci-fi thriller game set in a space station in the year 2032. What you got left is some mind-blending powers to take on the mutants or aliens invading your ship. But the trailer look cool though. No more info about this game but its from Dishonored developers Arkane Studio, so we have hope. The game will be out on 2017.

Dishonored II

A new gameplay trailer was revealed for Dishonored II. This time, not one, you can play as two characters. Don’t expect anything like GTA V or Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, you need to decide whom are you going to accompany with the rest of the game but you can play again as the other one from the beginning if you want to know what’s got in other character. Emily Korvald, one of the playable character and the new one, is the daughter of Corvo, who was the sole playable character in the prequel.

Emily and Corvo will have different skills and powers, with Corvo having some skills from the last game. But we can upgrade their skills with an unique skills tree for both of them.
One of Emily’s power is Mesmerize, in which the enemies will go into a state of unconsciousness while she can sneak out and eliminate them. Another fascinating equipment is a Time-Machine lens which you can see for yourself in the trailer below (bit lengthy but sweet for Dishonored fans). The game will be available on 11th of November, 2016.

VR time…

Everyone is turning towards VR nowadays, because we all know VR is great and guess roaming around Wasteland in VR. Yes Fallout 4 will be releasing on HTC Vive in 2017. The Survival mode will be much better in VR than in normal TV’s says the developer. Doom will also be available for VR in the future. So get ready for some great experience.

Bethesda had a great show this year. Some other announcements like Elder Scrolls Online DLC Dark Brotherhood is getting released for current-gen consoles, we haven’t covered it because this article has a ‘Surprise’ on its title. Even though the announcement was small, they covered about 3 hours with the pre-show, the main show and the after show, which includes interviews from all developers who have appeared on stage. Also for the attendees at the conference, they were given a great treat after the main show. As it was a public show, many gamers were standing in the queue for hours before the show.

The attendees got a chance to play almost every games they’ve shown on the stage including Doom and Fallout 4 VR. It all didn’t end here, those lucky guys were treated with a show from Blink-182! Bethesda didn’t left the streamers too, some lucky gamers watching the show through online will get some serious prizes that one would want it so bad (I really guess what it is now). Anyway they’ve given a great show to the audience as well as some additional contents plus who doesn’t ant to watch the Blink-182 performing?

Caught anything surprising that we didn’t cover here? Tell us about it in the comments below.
