Ubisoft’s Big Surprises from E3 2016
E3 is a gamer’s best week in an year. From announcing video games to releasing another video game everyone is excited and relieved. Let’s take a look at the major surprise announcements made at this year’s E3 Press Conference. We are not covering everything from the E3 showcase but only the ‘surprises’.
Ubisoft just entertained
Sony’s got a band, Microsoft got the Scorpio, Bethesda has its titles and Ubisoft have Aisha Tyler. This hostess has been rocking the Historic Orpheum theatre in Los Angeles for quite a few years now. Her humorous speech and welcoming made the great show even greater (and guess what? Chad was there!).
Too many surprises, too many ‘woos’ and we got Fassbender too, don’t think of him at the stage though! To tell more, Ubisoft gave us a nice dance at the start. Scroll down to see what happened at Ubisoft’s press conference.
It all started with a dance
“Don’t Stop Me Now”- Queens, you can download it from iTunes anyway, or if you want to hear it with a spectacled-giraffe and some other colorful creatures and dancers performing a unique dance show, you need to attend or watch Ubisoft’s E3 2016 press conference from the start itself. A nice way to show their next Just Dance title for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and for Wii on this October and for the Nintendo NX when it launches next year. Just Dance 2017 is one of the confirmed titles for the NX. In case you missed the above mentioned ‘giraffe’ don’t forget to take a look below, I’m sure you don’t want to miss it again.
More about the Wildlands
Tom Clancy is releasing yet another co-op multiplayer? After the dawn of The Division, which allowed us to roam the empty or perhaps, snowy streets of New York and some negative receptions from the gaming community, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands allows you to explore a vast map or wildland of Bolivia with up to four of your friends against enemy AIs. The gameplay shown promises one thing over anything, you’ll need a proper chat headset, a stable internet connection (don’t want to hear nice words from your co-op companion, do you?) and great timings. These things are mandatory for every co-op games but you’ll need to work a bit hard here though.
The setting is awesome, it looks like The Division agents were replaced from the always-winter New York to the prairie like setting of Bolivia. But if you have a professional team to take on the drug smugglers and other sort of highly protected thugs, workers and executives with style, stealth or action, its for you. The map shows so many works for the players to do, but still we should wait for its release on March 7, 2017 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Check out the gameplay trailer below.
The Fractured But Whole
Oh man, I’m gonna love these guys. They made me laugh with every bit of their dialogues, and the trailer? Oh God I thought it was The Division 2 or something. Its again a visit to South Park, and our heroes are trying to shoot their own set of movies in Three Phases and defeat their one and only rival, Marvel! Yeah seriously, they want to beat Marvel and their Avengers.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole is the sequel to South Park: Stick of Truth. Again we play as the new character who had just joined the group. The character’s powers and abilities can be customized and this time no more sticking around, you can freely move around the screen during combat. Throwing enemy NPC’s towards object will reduce their health and the ‘fart’ weapon is more powerful now. As I mention above Cartman is planning to shoot their own set of movies in three phases but turns out that his plans were failed which results in a civil war (which was actually on phase three).
Pre-order The Fractured But Whole to get South Park: Stick of Truth for free now itself or you will also get the free copy of Stick of Truth at the time of purchase of The Fractured But Whole. Check out the trailers below.
For Honor was revealed at E3 2015 as a multiplayer based game, where trusting one another is nothing, and a whole new way of fighting that is to control your player with the left stick and your sword with your right stick. But in this years E3 conference, gamers were much hyped to hear that For Honor includes a campaign mode too, with three playable groups: The Knights, the Samurais and the Vikings.
With the Knights, your primary objective is to safeguard your territory from enemy factions.
With the Samurais, you need to hold the prestige of your empire by preventing civil wars and as a Viking, capture everything. Check out the lengthy but awesome gameplay trailer to know more about being a Viking.
When everyone is turning towards virtual reality, what does Ubisoft supposed to do? Deliver some cool VR games for their fans! Check out what Ubisoft got for us in VR.
Eagle Flight was teased early, but a live demo of a multiplayer capture the flag based game was only shown at Ubisoft’s E3 conference. Entirely, the game seems interesting and in VR, we control the eyes of an eagle with our own eyes and I’m sure it won’t be disappointing (am I right, Aisha?). The four players divided into Red Team and Blue Team were tasked to catch preys fixed at some point in the map and the first one to capture it and return it to base will be pointed. This mode is called ‘Capture the Prey’. Eagle Flight is launching sometimes this year for Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR.
Star Trek: Bridge Crew
Everyone was so surprised with this announcement, especially Star Trek fans. You can control the ship from your position and you can select your desired position too. Since it is a four player co-op, so you’ll need two-three friends who have VR headsets and this game. Star trek: Bridge Crew will be released for the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR on this fall, 2016. Take a look at its trailer below.
Fassbender on Screen
There’s no Ubi E3, without diving deep into Assassin’s Creed according to Aisha Tyler. So a game maybe? Nop, its the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender. Frank Marshall, the producer of Assassin’s Creed was welcomed on stage to say anything about the film (which he refused), instead gave the audience a sneak-peak at the backstage work of the movie plus a trailer. Watch it below.
Just when Aisha Tyler was about to reveal something about Ubisoft’s another big titles for 2016, BOOM! It all went dark, some kind of hacking? Yes it is, the best ever introduction for the flagship of Ubisoft this year. Watch Dogs 2 pretty much hyped all of them, even me. The failure of its predecessor didn’t do anything to me, because the game looked promising, Marcus looked promising! An improved parkour system with additional gadgets like drones and remote controlled devices for stealth gameplay is added to the fun. Now you can hack each and every vehicle in San Francisco Bay. An extended gameplay, which shows the stealth portion of the game and the new co-op, along with a stylish trailer for Watch Dogs 2 was revealed.
Ubisoft will be partnering with Sony for Watch Dog’s 2 means PS4 players will get some perks and that is, they will get all the DLCs for Watch Dogs 2 thirty days earlier than the other platforms. Watch Dogs 2 will be released on November 15, 2016 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
And the movie..
Ubisoft’s next movie is based on Aiden Pierce (that serious dude from the first Watch Dogs who turned the entire city upside down because his niece got killed!). Sony will be distributing the film in cooperation with Columbia Pictures and New Regency. Games are turning into movies these days, you can really expect Far Cry and Raving Rabbids film.
A surprise new IP
A great open world multiplayer based game is going to get released. This surprise new IP is from Ubisoft Annecy set in the Alps. The main attraction is the great scenery across your map and the different types of camera views the player can switch to. Wait! Didn’t I tell you what the game really is? Its better to watch.
Ubisoft showed us a great show full of surprises and (I need to say once again) Aisha Tyler. She is the best hostess ever in any E3 conferences. Also, Ubisoft turned 30, so they are giving fans 7 great legendary games from them for free per month for the rest of the year and you can now download Prince of Persia: Sands of Time for free this month. All you need is to sign up for Ubisoft Club (that’s free too) and install UPlay on your PC.
